Just as you are unique - from your fishing style to physique - your fishing rod should be crafted to match your individual strengths and needs. Until you have fished with a Classic Destiny rod, you will never know how a custom built rod can enhance your fishing experience.

Neal Hall is an experienced rod designer. His engineering background allows him to understand and apply the rod building technology required to make a truly fine instrument. He combines the mechanical science of the machine with the artistry of the craft. His rods can include feather inlays, special thread wraps, hand-turned reel seats of exotic woods and striking handles. The result is a quality fishing tool that is simple yet beautiful to behold.

Neal has an intimate knowledge of the casting and fish fighting properties of hundreds of rod blank styles. His first hand experiences regarding grips, reel seats and line guide performance and durability allow him to consult with you to select the right components that will meet your specific needs. He wants to place in your hands a rod that you will enjoy using and an heirloom that your son or daughter will cherish.

Classic Destiny not only builds great fishing rods we build memories.

OUR RODS:

A Classic Destiny rod is crafted with close attention to details, which set it apart from others.  During the design and layout stage of each rod, technical performance is the top consideration.  Unfortunately this is not always the case with production run rods, which due to time constraints can suffer from insufficient and improper guide placement.

All of our rods are carefully spined.  In the case of our casting rods, the guides are aligned along the resulting effective spine. During the cast, this allows the rod to flex fore and aft in its most effective natural plane without torque due to twisting.

Classic Destiny however recommends casting rods that incorporate the spiral or Roberts wrap.  This guide configuration moves the line from the top of the rod, 180 degrees around the to the bottom of the rod.  This allows the lure to be retrieved and fish to be fought with absolutely no torque on the hands and wrists of the angler.   When used for trolling, these casting rods will set in the rod holders with the reel in the upright position.  Casting distances are also improved with the use of this special guide configuration.

Our spinning and fly rods have the guides aligned 180 degrees from the effective spine on the relaxed curve of the blank.

In order to place the guides onto the rod in the optimum position for the best performance, Classic Destiny incorporates a dynamic flex fixture along with the equal angle theory developed by rod designer Don Morton.  This technique establishes placement of the guides based on each rod blanks own unique characteristics.  The use of this technique distributes loads down the rod in a progressive fashion resulting in improved casting distance.   All rods are test cast with the handle and guides temporarily attached.  This insures that the butt guide and the ring size are optimized.  During the test casting any final adjustments to the guide spacing are made to ensure peak performance.  Guide spacing is recorded and the rod is disassembled. Then true assembly begins with the assurance that the rod balance, spine and guide placement are absolutely correct.

All bamboo rods made by Classic Destiny are hand planed from Tonkin cane the best bamboo available for fishing rods.  The bamboo is heat treated to temper the fibers.  The precision shaped pieces of bamboo are glued together using the strongest adhesive available today.  The guides are positioned on the rod using our standard procedures.  Guides are attached to the rod using the finest silk thread.  The rod is dip finished with 2 to 3 coats of UV protected marine varnish.

Classic Destiny combines all the latest and greatest techniques to create a fine-tuned fishing instrument to meet your angling need.
